❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What makes Sapphire Glass better than ordinary optical glass?
Sapphire glass features a Mohs hardness of 9, making it extremely scratch-resistant. It also offers a much wider transmission range (UV to Mid-IR) and significantly higher thermal conductivity.
What is the maximum operating temperature for these lenses?
The material has a melting point of 2040°C. It can safely operate up to 1900°C in vacuum or inert gas environments, and approximately 1000°C in air.
Can I customize the size and surface precision?
Yes. We support customizations from 1mm to 1000mm with thickness tolerances as tight as ±0.01 mm and surface flatness up to λ/10 @ 632.8nm.
What types of coatings can be applied?
Common options include Anti-Reflection (AR) to increase transmission, High Reflection (HR) for laser applications, and Oleophobic/Hydrophobic coatings for anti-fingerprint properties.
Is sapphire glass chemically resistant?
It is highly stable and insoluble in water, resistant to most strong acids and bases. However, it is not resistant to Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) or hot Phosphoric Acid.
What are the typical lead times and production capacity?
With a production capacity of 1,000,000 units per year, we can handle both high-volume industrial orders and specialized low-volume research requirements efficiently.
